Recently my son and I went on his school’s weeklong field trip to Washington, DC. (I unsuccessfully attempted to sleep during the overnight bus drives to and from our nation’s capital, making it necessary to visit 8 memorials, 5 museums, the National Cathedral, Mount Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, and so much more on sheer force of will.) We signed up for this trip last June and had been making payments and looking forward to all that we would see since then. Our departure date and time were April 21 at 2 am.
